You can switch to High Difficulty Mode via the object located at the game start point after completing the tutorial.
Touching the object again will disable High Difficulty Mode.

High Difficulty Mode adds the following elements:

• All enemies receive boosted parameters.
• Boss enemies receive new attack patterns.
• Defeated enemies yield more cells.
• The number of cells needed to repair upon death is increased.
